Summary:
This fourth novel in the Intersection saga, first of the Twisted Tableau trilogy, dives into the backstory of Jon's relationship with and Richard VanGilder Jr., from entering the Royal Academy at Sandhurst together, to being deployed to Baghdad, and their narrow escape from the Green Zone by way of Dahab. 

 

Concurrently, the story follows Katherine through her journey as a contract-journalist in the Middle East during the second Gulf War (Iraq War), her evolving relationship with Harold, the growing friendship with Gavin, and her first introduction to Rashid. The Sandbox Intersection also reveals the "2007 incident" between Harold and Katherine that caused a rift in their relationship and the secret in "The Anonymous Journey Home" kept hidden from Jon in The Marylebone Intersection.
